Hello there, friend. I'm Oriane. Very nice to meet you.

Let it be known, I have a bit of a prophet-complex. Granted, it hasn't led me wrong so far, so don't judge me just yet.

I'm an undergrad student at Indiana University majoring in Philosophy, English, and Political Science. I enjoy the academic life for the most part, although I often find myself feeling held back and stagnant from the whole thing, and aching to get the hell out and into the world. Someday, right? In between the school terms, thankfully, I find time to retreat to nature for substantial periods of time in order to clear my mind and focus my thoughts, which is basically what keeps me sane. If you haven't been alone in nature, completely alone, for an extended period of time (at least a couple days) I highly recommend you try it. Best times of my life. Hermitage is highly underrated. Oh, and I'm going out west this summer, and I'm looking for potential destinations, so feel free to make suggestions if you'd like. I'd appreciate it.

Moving on to some more important matters, the focus of my life is the pursuit of Truth. Don't ask me to explain what that means, unless you have a day or two to spare for me to explain in detail, because, as you can imagine, it's not an easy thing to describe. Truth, in itself, is of such a complex nature that I will spend the rest of my looking for it, and I am perfectly fine with that. I am a knight of infinite resignation. I am a humble servant of the Light. I believe that the only good can be Truth, and the only evil falsity. Compassion, Justice, Equality, Generosity, Courage, Wisdom, Tolerance, Temperance, Faith, Self-awareness and Happiness are all things rooted in Truth, and by following Truth and all that it shows to me, I believe I can lead a better life for myself and be of use to others. I believe that everyone can. Above all, Truth has shown me that the most important thing I can do as a human being is to love, whether it is a love for people, knowledge, nature, or what have you. Love is essential in making this world the place it could be.

On that note, I believe the world is in a very sorry state. I don't mean to be a cynic, or to discount all the good this world has produced in order to focus on the bad, but truth be told, there are so many things wrong at the moment, I don’t even know where to begin. The US government (in particular, but not exclusively) is corrupt, ugly, and working against the people, which is partly the reason I feel drawn to a political career, even if the idea is naturally somewhat abhorrent to me given the nature of our present government. Nonetheless, I will go where I’m needed. I’ll crucify myself on the White House lawn if I need to. Anything to wipe that stupid smile off our president’s face. God, it kills me.

 Anyways, I’m certainly a character, and I’d love to get to know you. I don’t bite. I enjoy many, many things and ideas, and I’m always looking for a new perspective, so bring it on. I know we’ll have at least one thing in common, trust me. And if I don’t hear from you, live well!
